It’s not just running that releases those endorphin boosters, it’s exercise in general. So take that CrossFit, Soul Cycle, yoga, or HIIT class you’ve always wanted to take. Working out puts stress on your system, so your brain pumps out endorphins to cope. You get this sense of ‘I can accomplish anything’ after you’ve finished an amazing class and you know you gave it your all. So find that superhero within you and make time to exercise.
Now this shouldn’t be a problem for most people (certainly not me). Cocoa contains mood-boosting substances such as phenethylamine, an organic compound that gives your body an endorphin boost, and theobromine, a chemical that suppresses pain so you can feel more pleasure, according to some studies. Again don’t over do it and eat chocolate everyday, save that candy bar in your desk drawer for emergencies.
When you get a case of the giggles, your body releases endorphins that increase your pain threshold. So go ahead, laugh until it hurts, literally.
Having sex releases a lot of tension, stress, oxytocin, and a flood of endorphins. After sex think how relieved and relaxed you always feel.
When I download a new album or make a new running playlist I can’t wait to listen to it. Your brain spews out endorphins when you actively take part in creating music.
